preview: throwing a “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” party

Ha! I bet you thought I was gone again!

While I can’t promise this won’t happen again due to… life, the universe, and everything, I am back with a new post, even if I’m a little late this time.

See what I did there?

Yes, that was a “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” reference, and yes, that means I totally turned 42 this year and had a belated celebration of said event last week. And for every sci-fi geek like me, this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to throw a “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” birthday party. Because, as it is widely known, in Douglas Adams’ cult classic novel, 42 is the answer to “life, the universe, and everything”. And I am hoping this means that in this year of my life, I will be a little wiser.

So, this post is late and this post will be short, but I will pick up this theme again at a later date to go into more detail.

For now, simply consider this an inspiration – for birthday parties or for a themed Halloween party to come. I will give a complete list of supplies and ingredients for the cake later, but I didn’t want to let another week pass without posting. I’m trying to build a habit, even if that means that not every post will be super in-depth.

If you do not know what “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” is, I absolutely recommend you read a little into it, listen to the original BBC broadcast, watch the tv show or movie or – even better – read the novel and embrace the beautiful weirdness and bizarre light-heartedness of Douglas Adams’ creation. There is a lot to discover and it is an amazing, never-ending source of hilarious quotes and quirky material for references.

So for now, enjoy the little preview of a much longer, in-depth post once the holiday season will be over.
